Joanne Cheung is an artist and researcher interested in contingency and embodiment. She pursues questions of representation in relation to the body and the computer, such as: how is our understanding of identity dependent on media? How are our cognitive processes shaped by aspects of the body? How does digital media intercede to replace or rearrange cultural and psychological boundaries? Her works question existing definitions of space and media and envision the constructive transformation of cultural and social structures.

Joanne received her BA with High Honors in Studio Art and Art History from Dartmouth College. She is currently a Master's candidate at the Milton Avery Graduate School of Arts, Bard College. She lives and works in New York and Hong Kong.
